About Me

Welcome,

If you have arrived at this page, you may be wondering if I am someone who may be able to contribute to your success at achieving your goals for happiness and success. I am happy to share a bit about myself so you know exactly what you may, and may not be seeking. I am not someone who spent a lifetime focused on mental health, nutrition or other valuable educational and degree programs. As with many people in the self-help industry, this is not something I had ever aspired to do. As a matter-of-fact, it was quite by accident that I discovered my interest in this subject. While my background is somewhat eclectic and indirect: working in the Clinton White House, running a technology business based in Hong Kong, building a popular consumer product business as an entrepreneur, and the past ten years helping grow a software company from $3mm to $130 mm, many changes in my life "helped" me fall into this role.

Over the course of about a year, as I was in the process of transitioning out of my senior executive role in the software business, I started focusing my energy on myself and how I could find purpose and reclaim the motivation and passion I had glimpsed during various periods of my life. As I read widely on the subject of "happiness" I started trying things I had read that made sense to me: exercise, healthy diet, spending focused time in nature. During this time, I began feeling better but...I felt I was hitting a wall at times and deep-down I knew what that was and that I had to face it. So, I was fortunate to have had a coffee/business meeting set up with an old and dear friend who also had faced, and overcome, the same obstacle in his life: Alcohol. While not the planned agenda for that meeting, I learned about his approach to moving past alcohol and what he gained and lost by leaving it. At that time, I made a quiet decision to face it sincerely.

While my approach has been my own, the process was not easy, direct, nor painless. However, it was highly educational and contributed to the other process I had already begun. First, it enabled me to drop the weight I could not seem to lose in spite of exercise and healthy diet, which was an immediate reward I needed to keep trying in the face of several false-starts. But second, I began to share my journey. In so-doing, I found a sense of community and satisfaction in talking about my goals and results and how my process and results could inspire and help others.

I am an Advanced course graduate of the Forum. More recently I have also completed the Harvard certification on Happiness Management and completed coaching and Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP) certification.

So, there you have it. The summary of my background and my motivation for creating the programs I have made accessible to you. In my spirit of candor, I can attest to two things: 1. not everyone will take the challenge of changing his or her life, and 2. for those that do, it is well worth it.
